“#NEWGLOBALMATRIARCHY2021 is a hybrid performance space, digital installation, and virtual gathering place presented by a group of collaborators from across the United States. In conversation with participating artists, digital space designer Ines Kang will present a lush landscape in which viewers will encounter digital artwork and video as well as live participatory performances and workshops taking place over the duration of this project. The project opens to the public on Saturday, February 27 at 2pm with a guided meditation and ritual facilitated by Maya Mackrandilal followed by an “open house” where viewers can explore the virtual space and learn more about this ongoing, multi-year, multimedia collaborative project. For the next four weeks, the space will serve as a gathering space for the community and open rehearsal space for the participating artists, culminating in the ‘Poetry and Performance Circle’ on Saturday, March 27 at 2pm featuring work by all project participants and open to the public. The virtual space utilizes the open-source platform Mozilla Hubs, and viewers will interact with the space on their computer or mobile device via an avatar, voice chat, text chat, and webcam.”
